Elite Gate Installation in Beverly Hills: What to Know First

We install, replace, and retrofit Elite gates across Beverly Hills, and the short answer is this: most Elite gate installation work takes one to two days on site, and you’ll know the full price before we start. Elite builds a solid gate, but the install is where it either stays solid or starts giving you trouble. We’re an independent Elite service provider - not affiliated with the manufacturer - and Hal Gatewood has been putting gates in the ground around Beverly Hills since 2001, long enough to know what holds up on these streets and what doesn’t. If you’ve got an Elite gate that needs installing, or an old one that needs pulling out and replacing, call (559) 844-6989 and tell us what you’re working with.

How Elite Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

Elite has been building gate openers and operators for a long time, and their swing and slide models show up on plenty of Beverly Hills driveways. Here’s what we actually see when we get called out, and what we do about it.

  • Elite SL3000/SL3000UL slide operators that eat limit switches after a windstorm. Beverly Hills gets those dry Santa Ana gusts that push a sliding gate just hard enough to overshoot the limit. The switch trips, the operator thinks the gate never closed, and it sits there beeping at 2 a.m. We pull the cover, reset the limits, and check the gate’s alignment on the rail, because nine times out of ten the gate itself shifted a half inch and that’s what’s causing the fault. Fix the alignment and the switch stops failing.
  • Elite swing operators with stripped plastic drive gears. The Mirage and Estate Swing lines work fine on a gate that’s balanced and moving free, but if a hinge sags even a little, the operator has to force the gate through the arc. The plastic gear inside takes the load and starts shedding teeth. Replacing the gear alone doesn’t fix the problem - the gate has to come off, the hinges get re-set, and the weight distribution gets corrected before we put a new operator in. Otherwise you’ll be back where you started in eight months.
  • Photocell and safety edge wiring that was never protected from the sun. Beverly Hills sun is relentless, and we regularly find Elite installs where the low-voltage wire was run bare along a fence and the jacket has gone brittle and split. That’s a false triggering problem waiting to happen. We run wire in conduit, bury it where it needs burying, and use direct-burial rated cable, not whatever was left on the truck.
  • Improper concrete pads under Elite slide operators. When a new gate goes in, the operator has to sit on a pad that won’t crack and tilt within two years. We pour a proper pad with rebar and let it cure before the operator goes on top. It takes an extra day, and it’s the difference between an operator that stays true and one that vibrates itself loose by the second winter.
  • Control boards damaged by power surges and bad grounding. Beverly Hills has older electrical services in a lot of these neighborhoods, and Elite boards are picky about grounding. We bond the operator frame, add a surge-rated outlet where it’s needed, and test the board before we call the job done. If the board is already fried, we’ll show you the burned trace and give you the choice of OEM replacement or a quality aftermarket board that drops in and costs less.

Our Elite Gate Installation Process

Here’s how a typical Elite gate installation goes when you call us in Beverly Hills, from first ring to finished cleanup.

  1. 1
You call, Hal or someone who works directly with him answers. No phone tree, no answering service. You describe the gate, the driveway, and what it’s doing. We schedule a time that works and we show up in that window.
  2. 2
On-site assessment and straight measurements. We check the grade, the existing posts or lack of them, the power situation, and the condition of the gate itself. If the gate is worth keeping, we’ll tell you. If it’s not, we’ll tell you that too and explain why.
  3. 3
We quote the job in writing before any work starts. That’s the price. It doesn’t change at the door because there is no surprise at the door. We discuss OEM versus quality aftermarket parts for the operator and hardware, and we explain the trade-offs in plain language.
  4. 4
Installation, including on-site welding. Gate posts get set in concrete, the gate gets hung and balanced, and the Elite operator goes in. Any welding needed happens right here in your driveway - we don’t haul your gate back to a shop and leave you without a driveway for a week.
  5. 5
Safety checks and adjustment. We test the safety edges, photocells, auto-close, and reverse sensitivity. A gate that closes on a car, a kid, or a dog isn’t acceptable, and we don’t leave until it’s right.
  6. 6
Cleanup and the 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing. We walk the site, we show you what we installed and why, and we hand you the guarantee. If something isn’t right in the first 90 days, you call and we come back. That’s the whole agreement.

What Elite Gate Installation Costs in Beverly Hills

Real numbers for the work we do on Elite gates in Beverly Hills, with the understanding that every driveway is different and this is a starting range, not a bait price.

  • Elite opener installation on an existing gate (labor only): $450-$900 depending on access, electrical work, and whether we’re replacing an old operator or starting fresh.
  • Full single swing gate with Elite operator: $2,800-$5,200 including posts, gate fabrication or assembly, operator, safety edges, and concrete work.
  • Full sliding gate with Elite SL3000-class operator: $4,500-$8,500 including the track, steel frame, operator pad, operator, safety devices, and all wiring.
  • Double swing gate (two gates, two operators): $5,800-$10,500 - the second operator and the additional concrete and wiring add real cost, and now you’re syncing two gates, which takes more adjustment time.

What moves the price: access for concrete and power, how much old steel needs cutting out, whether the existing posts are plumb, and whether an electrician’s scope comes into play. We quote before we touch anything, and the quote is what you pay. Call (559) 844-6989 for a free estimate on your specific gate.
